Preparing for Hay Day Play Day

On Friday, May 25 our students will enjoy a day of play led by our 7th and 8th grade faith family leaders. A letter was sent home this week about the color teams for Hay Day Play Day. Please be sure your children wear their team color, put on sunblock, and bring a refillable water bottle. In addition, there is no afternoon extended care so everyone can enjoy their Memorial Day weekend.

Last Day Of School

Our last day of school is on Friday, June 8. School mass is at 9:30 a.m., and end-of-the-year awards are at 11:00 a.m. It has been a wonderful school year, and we wish everyone a safe and enjoyable summer.

8th Grade Graduation

Please join us for our 8th grade graduation on Saturday, June 2 at 10:00 a.m. We look forward to celebrating with our graduates and their families!

Driving Safely In Our Parking Lot

Parish and school staff have noticed school families driving too quickly in the parking lot, being distracted with cell phones, and not abiding by the morning drop-off and after school pick-up procedures that were shared for the first few weeks of school and are available on pages 15-16 of our family handbook. Last week a parish staff member was nearly hit by a school parent because the person was driving too fast. Safety of all members of our community must be everyone’s highest priority.

Welcoming Our New PTG Secretary

We are happy to welcome Lisa Susbilla-Flores, our new PTG secretary. Please take a moment to learn more about Lisa.

My name is Lisa Susbilla-Flores, a St. Bede parent for the past four years and a parishioner since 1987. I have two children, Mina and Zoe. Mina is in an incoming 4th grader for the 2017-2018 school year, and Zoe will hopefully be a new addition to St. Bede’s as a TK. I work as the RN clinic manager at the Firehouse Clinic in Hayward, an urgent care center which is a partnership with the City of Hayward and Tiburcio Vasquez Health Centers. I have a strong belief in the strength of community and the importance of public service. I promise to be organized and present for the needs of our St. Bede community.

Supporting Your Child’s Learning

Students recently brought home their 3rd trimester progress reports. This is a great opportunity for you to spend time with your child discussing their academic progress and the areas where they need to improve. Here are some questions to ask your child:

  • What are the ways you have grown as a faith-filled individual, lifelong learner, and caring citizen?
  • How can you be a better student?
  • What is your goal for the rest of the year?
  • How do you plan to achieve your goal?
