Learning During the Summer
Back by popular demand, we are encouraging all of our students to participate in the Hornet Summer Learning Challenge. Our students are looking forward to several weeks of summer vacation. We believe in the importance of promoting learning during these summer months. Our teachers will provide summer learning opportunities for all of our students to focus on three basic subjects: reading, writing, and math. Any student who attends summer school, receives tutoring, or participates in the Hornet Summer Learning Challenge will be part of our special Back-to-School Bash on Wednesday, August 30, 2017. Thank you for supporting our Hornets to be lifelong learners.
Fulfilling 7th Grade Requirement
The state of California requires all incoming 7th grade students to have proof of a whooping cough Tdap booster shot before they can begin the school year. Please provide an updated medical record indicating that your child has received the immunization booster to the school office by Thursday June 15. In the past students have not been able to come to school because the child had not received the Tdap booster or the proper paperwork from the doctor’s office had not been completed.
Wearing Optional PE Uniforms
For the upcoming school year, students have the opportunity to wear PE uniforms to school on the days that they have PE. These PE uniforms are optional and include a t-shirt, shorts, and sweats with the school logo. Only t-shirts, shorts, and sweats with the school logo can be used as PE uniforms. On Mass days, students must wear the sweats with the school logo since this is the agreement we made with Fr. Seamus. If students forget to come in their PE uniform on a PE day, they may not call home or change during the day. Instead, they will play PE in their regular school uniform. For families that placed their orders by June 2, the delivery of the PE uniforms will be August 4. Students and families continue to share their excitement of this optional addition to our school uniform.
